Premier League review

Saturday 20th December
With the league leaders, Chelsea, in action on Monday night Man City had the chance to close the gap at the top of the table, They had a comfortable 3-0 at home against Crystal Palace to move level on points at the top with Chelsea. 2 Goals from Silva and another for Toure gave City a 6th straight league win and 8 in all competitions. Palace drop to 17th and have no win in 5 but more worryingly only 1 win in their last 11 league games.

Man Utd lost ground in the race for the title as they had to come from behind to rescue a 1-1 draw away at Aston Villa. The draw ended United's 6 game winning run and are now unbeaten in 7 but remain 3rd. Villa move upto 12th and have only lost once in their last 7 outings.

West Ham continue their remarkable season with a 2-0 home win over struggling Leicester. West Ham have now won 4 out of the last 5 and lost only once in 11 games, Leicester have not won in 12 and have lost 10 of those games and look in serious trouble of getting relegated.

Southampton stay 5th with a 3-0 win at home to Everton who fall to 11th. Southampton ended a run of 5 straight defeats as they look to hold onto a European place. Everton's up and down season continues as they go down to a 3rd successive away defeat.

Tottenham are 7th after a 2-1 home win against a Burnley team who drop back into the bottom 3. Harry Kane's remarkable season continued as he scored his 14th goal of the season in all comps. Although Burnley dropped into the bottom 3 they have turned their season around after going the first 10 games without a win they have now only lost 2 in the last 7.

Swansea are 8th with a 1-0 away win at struggling  Hull. Swansea recorded their first away since since the opening game of the season. Hull have now gone 10 games without a win and have not scored in the last 3.

QPR's great home form continued as they moved out of the bottom 3 with a 3-2 win over fellow struggler's West Brom. QPR have won 4 out of the last 5 at home and scored in the last 8 at Loftus Road. Charlie Austin's hat-trick moved him to double figures for the season. West Brom have lost 5 out of the last 7 and have been dragged down near the bottom of the league.
