Premier League Review

Premier League Review

Norwich v West Ham : 0-0
The early game saw Norwich and West Ham play out an entertaining 0-0 draw. The draw was Norwich's 3rd in a row but another 0 in for column means that they only average 0.5 goals per game. This will need to improve or they will find themselves in the bottom 3 come May. West Ham recorded their first draw of the campaign and are still to score in the second half of a game this season, however they have get 3 clean sheets out of 4 games so if the strikers start firing then this could be a interesting season for them
Positions
Norwich : 15th
West Ham : 7th
Prediction 0-0 : Actual Result 0-0

Arsenal v Southampton: 6-1
Arsenal put in a superb performance to demolish a Southampton team who are looking down already. Goals from Gervinho (2), Podolski, Walcott and 2 own goals gave the gunners a confident boosting result. Arsenal remain unbeaten and have won the last 2 to go 3rd in the league. They conceded their first goal of the season (Fox) but I don't think Wenger will be too disappointed about this. Southampton remain bottom of the league, with no points and have now conceded 14 goals in their 4 games so far.
Positions
Arsenal : 3rd
Southampton : 20th
Prediction 3-0 : Actual Result 6-1

Aston Villa v Swansea: 2-1
Villa picked up their first win of the season and climbed into mid-table with a convincing win over Swansea. Lowton scored his first goal for Villa to out them ahead before Benteke scored on his debut to put the game to bed. Villa picked up there first win and first clean sheet of the season as Swansea have now failed to to win in their last 2 and failed to score today for the first time this year
Positions
Aston Villa : 11th
Swansea : 5th
Prediction 2-1 : Actual Result 2-1

Fulham v West Brom: 3-0
A debut to remember for Dimitar Berbatov as he scored twice in Fulham's 3-0 win against West Brom. Every time Fulham win they keep a clean sheet this season. 2 wins 2 clean sheets. This was West Brom's first defeat of the year, prior to this they had only conceded once.
Positions
Fulham : 8th
West Brom : 6th
Prediction 1-1 : Actual Result 3-0

Man Utd v Wigan: 4-0
Man Utd ease past Wigan to take them to 3 wins on the trot and up to second in the table. Old hat Scholes scored on his 400th appearance, Hernandez got his first of the season (after he had missed a penalty), before Buttner and Powell scored on their debuts. Wigan have only kept one clean sheet this season and are averaging 2 goals against per game.
Positions:
Man Utd : 2nd
Wigan : 13th
Prediction 3-1 : Actual Result 4-0

QPR v Chelsea: 0-0
After Ferdinand predictably refused Terry's handshake we finally managed to get some football in this game. Chelsea's perfect start to the season came to an end in this feisty affair but remain unbeaten at the top of the league. This was QPR's first clean sheet of the season and they will be the happier with the result, although they remain in the bottom 3 without a win. Chelsea where shut out for the first time.
Positions
QPR : 18th
Chelsea : 1st
Prediction 0-2 : Actual Result 0-0

Stoke v Man City: 1-1
Peter Crouch scored again against Man City after his wonder goal last year but another debut goal (there has been a few of these today) from Javi Garcia kept up Man City's unbeaten start. Stoke also remain unbeaten and have a 100% record in the league (a pity these are all draws) so far. Man City have still to keep a clean sheet this season so will be working on their defence I suspect this week as they face Arsenal next week.
Positions
Stoke : 10th
Man City : 4th
Prediction 0-1 : Actual Result 1-1

Sunderland v Liverpool: 1-1
Another draw in the late game at Sunderland as Liverpool still can't find a win this year as they came from behind to draw with Sunderland. Sunderland like Stoke have drawn all their games this year and are the lowest ranked unbeaten team. Liverpool have yet to win and are yet to keep a clean sheet this year, maybe a more direct way of playing is needed until they start picking up points.
Positions
Sunderland : 14th
Liverpool : 17th
Prediction 1-2 : Actual Result 1-1

So another Saturday done and the league is looking a bit ominous as the big 4 are all in the top 4 in the league although Everton could break into that if they win on Monday. Table below.
